Tytler Demands University Named after Guru Govind SinghA Congress delegate led by Bihar in-charge Jagdish Tytler on Sunday met with Governor Debananda Konwar and urged him to set up a new university in Bihar named after the 10th Sikh sage Guru Govind Singh.

Besides Tytler, Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) President Anil Kumar Sharma, Ashok Chowdhary, Vijay Singh Yadav, Girish Sanghi, Prof. Dalveer Singh, Gurudayal Singh, Gurjit Singh, and All India Congress Committee secretary Sagar Raika also appealed to the Governor to take initiative to start Guru Govind Singh University in Bihar.

Tytler said the Governor gave him his word to apprise Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of their demands.

The Congress leader also ruled out removal of Sharma as the BPCC chief saying Sharma had proven himself to be very successful in handling Bihar affairs and the party did not see any reason to replace him with someone else.

As reported, a handful of disgruntled Congress leaders had earlier written to Congress President Sonia Gandhi to sack Sharma on charges of failure to revive the party in the state and failing to promote party agenda in Bihar.

"Previous state presidents either joined hands with Lalu Prasad Yadav or Nitish Kumar when they thought Congress was sinking. Sharma, on the other hand, stuck with the party through thick and thin and has proven his mettle as an effective leader in Bihar," Tytler said.
